Instructions for setting Gigaset SE551
Wireless Routers to Dynamic IP mode

 

 
 

In its default configuration, the Gigaset Wireless Router is not set up in Dynamic IP mode.

Instructions for making the necessary changes are set out below:

SE551 Wireless Router set-up:

  • Factory Reset the router to ensure it is in default mode (refer instructions below).
  • Ensure the "Modem" port on the router is connected to your ADSL/Cable modem by an Ethernet cable.
  • Type the router's URL into the internet browser (address bar in Internet Explorer), http://192.168.2.1/
  • Once the login page appears, enter the password as admin, Click OK
  • A "Security Advice" page may appear, Click OK.
  • Click the "Basic Setup Wizard" link
  • On the Welcome-Wizard page, click the "Next >" button to start the wizard
  • Select Australia as the Country and Click the "Next >" button
  • Next to the "Protocol" option, click the drop down list and select "Dynamic IP"
  • Next to the "UPnP" option click the "On" button
  • Click the "Next >" button
  • On the Apply Settings page, clear/uncheck the tick box and click "Finish"
  • A warning message may pop up, click OK
  • A message will pop up asking to reboot the router, click OK

Your router is now configured for Dynamic IP
 

Resetting SE551 wireless router to Factory Defaults

Resetting the router may be required if you have changed the router’s settings and wish to reset it to the factory default configuration.

Note: Resetting the router will wipe all previous configurations and may need re-configuration to set up in your environment.

SE551 Wireless Router

  1. If not already unplugged, unplug the power to the wireless router. Wait 2 seconds then plug it back into the power turn the router on.
  2. Wait 5 seconds, until the router has stopped booting up. The 'Power 'and 'WLAN' lights will then go solid green
  3. Insert a small tipped object (a pen tip will do) into the reset hole underneath of the wireless router, this will be found close to the LAN4 light. You will need to hold this in for at least 5 seconds until the WLAN light turns off. As soon as you see the WLAN light turn off you then need to release the button. ... wait 15 seconds.
  4. You will see the WLAN light and the LAN1-LAN4 lights flash briefly. If not, repeat Step 3.
  5. Unplug the power to the wireless router
  6. Reboot laptop/PC. Power off your ADSL/Cable modem, then turn back on
  7. Finally plug the power back into the SE551 wireless router to turn back on
